Dr Ong Soh Khim is an Associate Professor with the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Her research interests are in the areas of virtual and augmented reality applications in manufacturing, augmented reality applications in assistive technology and rehabilitation engineering, life cycle engineering and assessment, distributed and collaborative manufacturing and the development of computer-based teaching tools. In particular, her research focus is on the development of innovative manufacturing tools and assistive technology devices.
A/Prof Ong is the recipient of numerous accolades and awards. These include being the first female person in the Asia Pacific region to be elected as an Associate Member of The International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP) in 2005 and being presented with the 2009 Emerging Leaders Award in Academia by the US Society of Women Engineers (SWE). A/Prof Ong was previously a nominated member of the Singapore Parliament and was also nominated to the Asia Society's Asia 21 Young Leaders Summit in 2006 and 2007.
